Review - Demolition Queen by Betsy Cook Speer

I was kindly sent a copy of this book by the lovely lady herself Betsy Cook Speer!

Where do I start with this one?, its a wild ride and I want to make sure I do it justice!

Ok! Well let me start by introducing the eponymous Demolition Queen from the title, Sam Albany.

She is the star of her own kick-ass demolition action show, An American in England she is not a woman to be trifled with, beautiful, sassy, handy with a hammer as well as being a fencing expert and champagne enthusiast.

After losing the love of her life to a hand-gliding accident in Switzerland she meets and marries Conrad who has money, a mansion and a massive chip on his shoulder, he is extremely protective of Sam.

Demolition Queen: Champagne, Murder and Chaos deals with the fallout following the death of Sam's brilliant scientist mother, an extraordinary woman just like her daughter, she is the creator of an amazing device that will save lives through an implant in the body.

This device has been going through clinical trials with patient "Suzy Q" and has proved to be successful but not long after her mother reveals the success of the implant she dies but was it natural causes or was she killed, the latter seems to be the case.

What follows is a rip rollicking ride to find out who wanted her mother dead and also to her horror Sam finds out that it looks like somebody wants to turn the device in to a weapon to murder innocents.

Her mother, a very practical woman has left Sam clues which will help her get to bottom of her murder and Sam is relentless in her quest as well as an extremely resourceful and she uses these qualities along with copious amounts of champagne and buckeye balls to find out who is responsible.

Now I have never heard of buckeye balls, I knew peanut butter was involved so after a research visit to Pinterest I found this and they look delicious, peanut butter and chocolate what's not to love!

Demolition Queen is a delicious read, at times its just bonkers, at time its like James Bond but most of the time its a rip rollicking ride with plenty of twists and turns plus there is so much that goes on that I have not touched upon but I am not here to give you a blow by blow account, I am here to give you an idea of what this story is about and as this book has so much going on you are just going to have to get out there and get a copy yourself!

I hope we will here more from Sam Albany, Betsy has created a great character and I think she has a lot more champagne to drink, buckeye balls to eat and asses to kick!

I can't wait to see what she gets up to next!

Demolition Queen gets 5 out of 5
