Reviews Coming Up In The Next Few Weeks - July 2014

So June was a totally mad month for me, lots of new books came out, lots of promos and I did a lot of reading but it was all worth while today when I noticed I hit 10,000 views which when I started doing this back in February I never ever thought anybody would read my blog never mind get to this amount, so thank you everyone for taking the time to read my ramblings.

Now, back to business, as I thought my list for June didn't quite work out there are a few books that I just ran out of time with so I'll be carrying them on to this month, so without further ado lets start with them and then I will share with you the other beauties I have coming your way.

So let's start with Tracie Banister's Blame It on the Fame which looks good, it has a bitch, a has-been, a skank, a quiet one and the unknown one all trying to get a coveted gold award. It sounds like its going to be a riot! Jennifer Ellis's In the Shadows of the Mosquito Constellation is another book with a beautiful cover, just gorgeous, set in a world that has been torn apart by an economic collapse, surviving each day is the main goal but when a deadly virus starts to spread how will people cope? It focuses on a group of survivors and there lives, loves and loyalty.  Mila Gray (aka Sarah Alderson) has for fans of men in uniform Come Back to Me a steamy hot love story about a young couple trying to make it.

I purchased Blame It On The Fame myself!
Jennifer Ellis and Mila Gray very kindly sent me advance copies

Patron Saint of Florida, Craig Williams brings us an epic journey of the Williams families many many trips to Florida, this man is the oracle when it comes to the Sunshine State, you need to read this before you contemplate getting on that plane.  Sarah Perry releases After Me Comes The Flood which has a beautiful simple but effective cover - the tag line for this book "What if you walked out of your life to find another one waiting for you?" it looks good.  I have been reliably informed the We are all completely beside ourselves is amazing, it sounds like it has got a major twist so I can't wait to read it.

I own a copy of Craig Williams book
Serpent's Tail very kindly sent me a copy of Sarah Perry & Karen Joy Fowler's books

I am a little scared to read The Troop, I won't be reading it at night time put it that way, It's being described as Lord of the Flies meets The Thing meets Stand By Me, I don't think it will be for the faint hearted but I do think its going to be one heck of a read.  Shovel Ready is a dystopian with a difference, a dirty bomb has gone of in NYC killing Spademan's family, he ends up becoming a hit man in the aftermath of all of this and it looks like there are going to be a lot of hard decisions coming to him.  The String Diaries in the flesh is an extremely striking book, set over many years it is a supernatural tale of a horror that haunts a family.

Thank to Headline for providing me with copies of all three

The Spring of Kasper Meir is a mystery set in post war Berlin, a gripping debut from Ben Fergusson.  I was lucky enough to interview the lovely Tessa Gratton a while back and I am now the proud owner of a lovely copy of the first book in the United States of Asgard series, The Lost Sun which features Norse Gods in America.  Lisa Dickenson releases You had me at Merlot, released in four parts it promises to be great comedic read.

Thank you to Little Brown for providing me with the books from Ben Fergusson and Lisa Dickenson
I purchased my own shiny copy of The Lost Sun

The Art of Baking Blind is a book you will read and find yourself ravenously hungry, I have read a small bit of it and I can say comparisons will be made to the Great British Bake Off but that is a good thing!  Glimpse is based on the tale of The Highwayman and promises to be great read with a ghostly twist.  Lastly the Maddox brothers are back in Beautiful Oblivion, Travis takes the back seat and Trenton moves to the forefront, if it is as good as the previous books I am going to be in for a great read!

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with a copy

I hope to read all these amazing books, they all look amazing, I had also hoped to re-read some series that I have recently acquired the third books in notably Veronica Rossi's Never Sky series, if I can I will, if not watch this space!

I also have lots of blog tours, cover reveals and book blasts coming up so I hope there is something for you this month!

Smolder Book Cover
Smolder (Witchbound #3) by Kelbian Noel
About Smolder:
Calida Cevallos has never been special. In fact, as far as she’s concerned, there isn’t an exceptional bone in her body. But, this summer, she’ll discover extraordinary literally runs through her veins.
I’ve always been a burden. The girl people put up with, the one they tolerated. When I finally found someone who actually wanted me around, I couldn’t have be happier. But lately something’s been bubbling at the surface. Something wants to break free…and I’m afraid it’s me.
I love him. And, for a time, I thought I needed him. Now I’m not so sure. These days, I get the feeling I’m the one who’s needed. By whom? I’m about to find out.

Roots (Witchbound Book One) by Kelbian Noel

288 pages

Seventeen-year-old Baltimore Land just wants to be normal, but magic has other plans.

I don’t consider myself a witch, that’s my parents’ thing. I’ve never really believed in magic either. Sure, I tried it a few times. Fell for the whole “magic happens” thing. But it didn’t happen to me. No amount of rhyming stopped my parents from moving me halfway across the country. Not one spell stopped me from being labeled the town freak.

And worst of all, no matter how many times I begged the Universe to bring my twin back, I was ignored. Until now.

He’s back all right. And in a magical bind of his own. Not the magic-won’t-work-for-me kind either. In fact, it’s working a little too well. Too dark. Too deep.

It turns out our entire family’s magical roots run just as deep and my brother didn’t end up where he is by accident. So I’m going to help him. But magic isn’t really on my side. Nope. Once I finally get the craft under control, I’m expected to abandon the one person in the world who’s closest to me, just to save myself.

Sprung (Witchbound Book Two) by Kelbian Noel

336 pages

Since she discovered magic, seventeen-year-old Skye Jackson’s life is almost perfect. Almost. Even perfect has its glitches.

What happens when the one with all the power makes the biggest mistakes? Welcome to my life.

Four months ago, I couldn’t have been happier. When my parents got divorced, I wasn’t exactly thrilled. Especially when Mom married a guy half her age. But then I found out I wasn’t the average Joana. Discovering magic existed and, best of all, I could use it, made everything easier to deal with. That is until I got a little too spell happy. But what girl wouldn’t defend her best friend against a world-class creep? Now I’m stuck in a nightmare, forced to make life and death decisions I never dreamed I’d face.

Love the magic, hate the responsibility.

About the Author:

Kelbian Noel was born on a warm June night in Moncton, New Brunswick. From a very young age, she loved to read. She found herself engulfed in novels by Janette Oke and L.M. Montgomery, but never seemed to find herself in the pages. At the age of 11 she declared she would simply have to rewrite them, and become the youngest author in history. But life was full of baseball, homework, BFFs and boys. Decades later, having studied writing in college and pursued it as a career, she rediscovered her hobby. She is excited to introduce The Witchbound Series to the world with hopes someone will love this story as much as she does. Kelbian lives in Toronto, Ontario with her two children (where, thanks to a thick layer of smog, Junes are much warmer than they used to be).

She is the founder of and blogs there often, in the company of some pretty cool people.

BLOG TOUR - Suddenly Last Summer by Sarah Morgan **GIVEAWAY**

Welcome to my BLOG TOUR for

Suddenly Last Summer

by Sarah Morgan

Read my review and win some amazing prizes!!

About the Book:
USA TODAY bestselling author Sarah Morgan introduces another irresistible O'Neil brother who's more tempting than dessert and twice as sinful!

Fiery French chef Élise Philippe is having a seriously bad day. Not only have the grand opening plans for her beloved café fallen apart, but Sean O'Neil is back in town and looking more delectable than ever. Memories of the electrifying night they shared last summer leave Élise very tempted, but she knows all too well that eventually Sean will be leaving…again.

Being back in Vermont—even temporarily—is surgeon Sean O'Neil's worst nightmare. Returning home to the Snow Crystal Resort means confronting the guilt he feels about rejecting his family's lifestyle years ago. But discovering that Élise is still in Vermont and still sets his blood racing is a very welcome distraction! Remembering last summer and how good they were together is going to make walking away more difficult than he could imagine….

So I have finished Suddenly Last Summer! What did I think?

Well first of all his book conjured up the most beautiful scenery, Vermont is a state I have always wanted to visit and it just sounds idyllic here!

Sean O'Neill is a brilliant surgeon but this comes at a cost to his personal life, he is just not interested in a proper relationship and has a bad history with women, one highlight in his past is the walking firebomb that is Elise Phillipe, who he once spent an unforgettable night with, she is a sensational chef who just happens to work at his families resort in Vermont.  She is a woman on a mission to complete her project, the opening of a beautiful waterfront cafe but Sean's grandfather falls ill whilst helping her and she is convinced she has nearly killed him.

Sean makes his way back to Vermont to see his grandfather and straight away the chemistry between him and Elise is electric.  Neither of them wants a relationship but they are like magnets drawn to one another.  The question is can they put away the problems in their past to focus on the future and Elise has left behind a past in France that she keeps secret from him.

I really loved this story, the O'Neill brothers are such gorgeous sounding men and as for Elise she was so feisty, you could hear the French accent just singing from the pages!  No more spoilers as to how it ends because you know you are going to go and buy it but it will give you a great read right till the end!

BOOK BLAST! Primordial Dust by Sarah Daltry **GIVEAWAY**

Welcome to my BOOK BLAST!

Primordial Dust bt Sarah Daltry

Amazing Giveaway - Prizes include Amazon giftcards and copies of Primordial Dust!

A princess, trained to behave. An assassin, betrothed to her. A thief, whose eyes she dreams of at night. A kingdom at war, torn apart by the suppression of magic and truth, as well as family secrets that threaten to destroy decades of peace.
Questions of loyalty, of morality, and of free will culminate in a fantasy novel about forging one’s own path and choosing one’s own destiny.

Sarah Daltry writes about the regular people who populate our lives. She’s written works in various genres – romance, erotica, fantasy, horror. Genre isn’t as important as telling a story about people and how their lives unfold. Sarah tends to focus on YA/NA characters but she’s been known to shake it up. Most of her stories are about relationships – romantic, familial, friendly – because love and empathy are the foundation of life. It doesn’t matter if the story is set in contemporary NY, historical Britain, or a fantasy world in the future – human beings are most interesting in the ways they interact with others. This is the principle behind all of Sarah’s stories.

Sarah has spent most of her life in school, from her BA and MA in English and writing to teaching both at the high school and college level. She also loves studying art history and really anything because learning is fun.

When Sarah isn’t writing, she tends to waste a lot of time checking Facebook for pictures of cats, shooting virtual zombies, and simply staring out the window.
