REVIEW TOUR - Endre by ST Bende

Today we're celebrating the release of

Endre (Elsker Saga #2)

by S.T. Bende!

Endre (Elsker Saga #2) by S.T. Bende

Upper YA/NA Paranormal Romance

Sometimes, finding your destiny means doing the exact opposite of what The Fates have planned.

Winning the heart of an immortal assassin was a dream come true for Kristia Tostenson. Now she’s knee deep in wedding plans, goddess lessons, and stolen kisses. But her decision to become immortal could end in heartbreak -- not only for Kristia, but for the god who loves her. Because while Ull would do anything to protect his bride, even the God of Winter is powerless against the Norse apocalypse. Ragnarok is coming.

And the gods aren’t even close to ready.

Buy Endre on:

When I came to, my chest heaved with sobs. Cold sweat cloaked my body from my forehead to the backs of my knees. My hair was damp, my pulse was racing, and my fingers gripped the sheets so tightly my knuckles ached. I was in my room at √Ědalir, the one place I had always felt safe. Only now I was absolutely terrified.

I ripped the covers off and wrapped my arms around my legs. My nose twitched at an unfamiliar smell. I pulled the cord on the bedside lamp, and looked around to see what might be burning. There was no smoke in the room; all of the furniture seemed to be intact. But when I glanced down, I saw the hems of my pajamas. They were black, singed from the fire I’d desperately hoped had been part of a dream.

This time things had gone too far. If my smoldering pant legs were any indication, being injured in a vision could have far-reaching worldly consequences. And if Elfie had come that close to killing me . . .

Ull had his rules, but I no longer cared. I jumped out of bed and raced down the hallway. When I reached his door I pounded on the distressed wood. Tears streamed down my face but I didn’t bother to wipe them away. The downpour was too intense; it wouldn’t have done any good anyway.

The door flew open and Ull stood on the other side. He wore a loose pair of grey sweatpants and nothing else. Oh hot bejeebus. There was no way this guy was for real. It just wasn’t humanly possible to look that good.

Oh, right. Ull wasn’t human.

Despite the agony coursing through my awakening consciousness, this was a moment of glory I’d remember forever—the first time I saw Ull’s naked torso. His sweats hung low on his hips, affording me a view of the cut just above the bone.

Holy Lord.

“Kristia?” Ull rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He took in my matted hair, tear-streaked face, and shaking hands. “Great Odin. What happened?”

He pulled me to him, crushing my face against the muscles of his chest. The knot in my stomach loosened infinitesimally. Just being near Ull gave me peace, but being this near Ull was like taking a sedative. Breathing in his woodsy smell made my panic subside. And when he pressed his hands against me—one to my hair, the other against the small of my back—my gut knew I was safe. Nothing bad could happen to me so long as I was in Ull’s arms. I inhaled again, letting his familiar scent fill me from the inside until my shaking stilled. Then I pressed my lips against his skin. Hard.

“Sweetheart?” he asked again.

“I had another vision and it freaked me out. Can I stay with you?” I didn’t take my lips off his chest as I spoke. I couldn’t. He tasted divine—like spruce and soap and home. There was a very real possibility my mouth might be permanently adhered to his flesh, like a kid who’d tried to lick a frozen railing.

Only this was far less unpleasant.

So I was very kindly sent an advance copy by Ull and I was so excited to find out how his and Kristia's wedding plans where progressing plus I was crossing my fingers for Tom Hiddleston's Loki to show up (he never does....).  It kicks right off with Kristia dreaming of an evil elf who seems to know far too much about what she has planned and is down right threatening.

Ull of course is naturally worried for her but Kristia not only has this elf to worry about she is about to get married to the God of Winter, her life is going to change for the better but at what cost, she will become immortal and she will become the Goddess of Winter, how will Kristia cope with all of this?

As well as Ull she has a ready made support network of Ull's nearest and dearest including fellow bad ass Gunnar, his lovely other half bad driver Inga and off course Olaug who is the wonderful grandmother figure.  They all want to protect Kristia  and are thrilled that Ull has found his true love.

Endre is once more a brilliant look at Kristia and her immersion in to the world of Asgard, never one for spoilers this book takes you all the way up to their wedding day and the obstacles that get in the way, some funny (Gunnar and his bad driving) and some scary (evil elfie!), ST Bende has produced a fantastic series that really delights the reader with its fantastic characters and great plot.

My only problem? Waiting on the next book in the series!

Inga Andersson is the envy of every girl in Asgard. On the surface she has it all -- great friends, a job as Odin’s personal fight choreographer, and a happy ever after with her realm’s hottest assassin. But when evil invades Asgard, her perfect world comes crashing down. Someone is planning to kill off the gods, and Inga’s best friend Ull is first on their list. With the Norse apocalypse a nanosecond away, Inga has to decide how she’ll spend her final moments of freedom. Because from the moment this battle begins, Inga’s happily ever after will be nothing more than a memory.

Elsker: The Elsker Saga Book One

You don't win the heart of an immortal assassin without making a few enemies along the way. Kristia Tostenson prefers Earl Grey to Grey Goose and book clubs to nightclubs, but when she transfers from her one-stoplight town to Cardiff University in Wales she falls in love with Ull Myhr. Her new boyfriend isn't exactly what she was expecting. He's an honest to goodness Norse God - an immortal assassin fated to die at Ragnarok, the battle destined to destroy Asgard and Earth. Kristia's crazy visions are the only thing that can save their realms.

Her orderly life just got very messy.

BLOG TOUR - The Horde Without End by Nazarea Andrews ** GIVEAWAY **

Welcome to my tour stop for
THE HORDE WITHOUT END by Nazarea Andrews

Read my review and enter the giveway to win an amazing Zombie Survival Kit and $50 Amazon Giftcard

It was supposed to be over…

Returning from Haven 18 was supposed to be the end. But nothing is ever easy—and in a world full of zombies, finding the missing is next to impossible. There are breadcrumbs. Tiny clues. But what are a few tiny clues in a world of the dead?

Nurrin is desperate to find her brother, but that will mean trusting Finn O’Malley. A man shrouded in secrets, who kills as easily as breathing. And the more she learns about him, the more questions she has. But she has learned one thing—the zombies are changing. Adapting. And this time, the Haven walls won’t keep them out.

Hopefully you have read my review of book one in this series The World Without A Future, if not, why not?!!! (you can read it here to catch up).

So lets get up to speed, book one had zombies laying waste to everyone and everything in their path, escaping with their lives Nurrin and her brother Collin , her boyfriend Dustin and Finn's best friend finally manage to find a safe haven only to discover that Dustin has been infected, Nurrin and Finn set off to find an antidote, on their return back to the safe haven after they have scoured the lands for this medicine they discover both Dustin and Collin gone, cue Book 2 The Horde Without End!

So this book picks up straight away in the safe haven where we left off, Nurrin and Finn still fighting with their overwhelming chemistry need to decide what to do, Nurrin doesn't need to try to hard to come to a decision she is going after her brother with or without the enigma that is Finn.

Finn's name opens doors and comes with a lot of baggage that he does not want to discuss with Nurrin, she has to settle for him keeping her safe, make her hot and bothered and making sure she can get her brother back from wherever he has gone.

Their journey in this book takes them to new Haven's and we venture to Haven 1 where things see almost normal compared to the living hell that everyone outside its walls has to endure, Haven 1 is home of the President of what is left of the USA and for once Finn's name is not getting any brownie points with him, they know each other from years ago and they do not share happy memories.

This book is as awesome as the last one, I could read about zombies and the extremely hot Finn quite happily for ever, Nazarea again has hit the nail on the head with her descriptions of these hordes and when Finn tries to explain to the president that the infected are changing for the worse, you wonder what the hell is coming up in book 3 especially with the heart breaking ending this book has.

So yay for zombies, I'm awarding this 5 out of 5

About No Weddings (Release Date Sep 8):

Award-winning author Kat Bastion teams with her husband, Stone Bastion, in this first book in the No Weddings Series about Cade Michaelson, a successful man with his sights set on a new venture in business, and Hannah Martin, the woman who makes it personal. I think I have my act together as a successful bar owner, my master’s degree within reach, and a list of no-strings-attached women warming my bed. Turns out, I don’t. Hannah believes she has safeguarded her wounded heart by shunning men and focusing on her new baking business. The thing is, she hasn’t. When my three sisters and I start a new event-planning business with Hannah as our baker, I have no idea how my life is about to change. As Hannah and I work closely together, the attraction between us becomes irresistible. And complicated. I’ve promised my sisters I wouldn’t mix business with pleasure. But I’ve never been one to follow the rules. Add on Goodreads

About One Funeral (Release Date Sep 29):

The stakes climb higher in this second book in the No Weddings Series for Hannah Martin, a woman restrained by her past, and Cade Michaelson, the man who could help set her free. I’m drawn to Cade as he charms his way into more of my life and offers me something I truly haven’t ever had: a friend. Yet his humor, patience, and drop-dead sexiness take my breath away, and I know my heart is at risk. I want to move forward but am terrified I can’t. Cade seems to have it together from his own devastating heartache. His subtle actions, however, suggest a different story. And even though he says he wants more, I wonder if he’s able to trust in our developing relationship. As we navigate through our tangled feelings, we vow to take it slow. Yet no matter how careful we try to be, things between us intensify—and there’s nothing we can do, or want to do, to stop it. But the biggest question remains: Is chemistry enough to move beyond the past and
toward a future together? Add on Goodreads

About Two Bar Mitzvahs (Release Date Oct 20):

Summer heats up in this third book in the No Weddings Series, where Cade Michaelson strives to balance his and Hannah Martin’s new relationship with the growing demands of his financial success. Waiting for Hannah has been the best and worst kind of torture. Now I can claim her as mine. We believe we’re done with the past and can move forward together. Hannah grows stronger than ever as she trusts in me—trusts in us. And when obstacles appear, she shows a surprising fierceness that rivals my own. However, all is not perfect in paradise. Things get chaotic while I try to juggle multiple businesses, an ex from hell, and a girlfriend I’d do anything to keep. And in the middle of the whirlwind, I recklessly think I can handle everything. But when all the madness is over, will I have everything I want—will I still have Hannah? Add on Goodreads

About Three Christmases (Release Date Nov 17):

As the holiday season approaches in this fourth book in the No Weddings Series, Cade Michaelson strives to be better at balancing work and love, and Hannah Martin’s growing ability to trust is put to the test. Lust and friendship brought us together, but with the increasing demands of my two businesses, Hannah’s thriving bakery, and our successful event-planning company, stability becomes my focus. Then a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity takes me to the West Coast, and everything goes into a tailspin. Laughter, love, and excitement fill our lives, but Cade refuses to settle into the wonderful bliss we’ve found—he wants spectacular fireworks and an unshakable foundation. Driven like no one I’ve ever met, Cade insists a dream job across the country will be better for our future together, but I worry about whether we can survive the present apart. When intimate time diminishes…and lives get more hectic… Will a little bit of faith be all that it takes? Or will the sacrifice to get there be too great? Add on Goodreads

Exclusive Excerpt:
Thank you for reading and sharing the first exclusive excerpt of No Weddings, where Cade and Hannah experience a heated moment…

When we reached her door, she slammed into it, and with my hand attached to her death grip, I crashed into her. Breaking free of her hold, I tempered my impact by shooting my arms up onto the doorframe. She stilled, her key halfway into the lock. We were pressed against each other in a compromising position, and it struck us both. I dropped my head down, resting my head against the windowpane, unable to move—only able to breathe. And her delicate scent wafted up. Tropical. Enticing. I closed my eyes, fighting the urge to stay. And losing. She swallowed. I heard it. I felt her turn around and drop the platter to her side as it brushed my hip. I opened my eyes to find hers closed as she pressed her soft body up against me. She inhaled deeply, and her body shuddered. “Cade, I…” She opened her greenish eyes with those little flecks of gold in them. Uncertainty washed across her expression. I exhaled but didn’t move. This was so off-limits. But the fact that I couldn’t have her suddenly made me want her all the more. “Fuck.” I pulled away. Shook my head. Cold air flooded between us, breaking the spell we’d both fallen under when we hadn’t been paying attention. Hannah looked surprised, like she couldn’t believe I’d rejected her like that. “I can’t, Hannah.” She nodded furiously, like she agreed. But I could tell as her expression hardened and she turned to slide the key into the lock with a shaking hand that she struggled with her emotions. I put my hands on her shoulders, stopping her from pushing in through the now-open door. “Hannah, it’s not you. Trust me, it’s not. I’m…” Fighting my attraction had been difficult enough. Knowing she also felt the pull made our working together dangerous. I needed her help to keep our dealings purely professional. Her voice trembled. “You want me? You feel it too? I…” Ah, fuck. Hearing her repeat my thoughts made this excruciating. Figures. The first girl who challenged my mind, in addition to physically attracting me, would be the one I couldn’t pursue. Damned “no doing the help” rule. I exhaled, counting to five. “Yeah, but I…we…can’t. Not only would it be a really bad idea, based on past experience, I promised my sisters. It’s as good as a sworn blood oath.” I ground out the words, shocked I could form coherent sentences with my blood flooding much farther south from my brain cells. I clenched my fists, digging my nails into my palms while I eased back, putting a good couple of feet between us. In desperation, I vowed to maintain said safe minimum distance at all times. Slowly, she turned to face me again. Confident, proud, a woman now in charge of herself, body and mind, Hannah nodded. “I promise too. No matter our attraction, we keep it strictly business.” I blew out a fast breath through tight lips. “Good. With you and me both working on that, it’ll be a lot easier.” A slow smile crept onto her face, a devilish gleam sparking in her eyes. “Oh? You mean if I didn’t play along, things could get difficult for you?” My face fell. She wouldn’t. Would she? She placed a palm on my chest, smiling sweetly. “It’s okay, Cade. I promise not to tease you…too much.”

Author: Alicia Rae

About A Beautiful Purpose: Book 6 in The Beautiful Series or Standalone All Blake Johnson knows is the life of a Marine. After serving his country for eight years, he returns to his family for some rest and rehabilitation. Fighting an internal war, he battles sleepless nights as images of his former military days haunt him. From the moment Audrey Hampton walks into his life, he is drawn to her. Her beauty leaves him breathless and weak in the knees. She kindles a spark of hope deep within his soul, igniting a part of himself he feared was missing. Her never-ending compassion for others opens his heart in a way he never dreamed. But Audrey is hiding wounds of her own. Returning to Lake Tahoe to care for her ill mother triggers painful childhood memories of her parents’ loveless marriage, reminding her there is no such thing as true love. Will Blake’s resolve be powerful enough to open Audrey’s sealed heart? Or will Audrey fear the past and risk losing the man who could give her life a newfound purpose? Can two wounded souls become one?

Exclusive Excerpt:
~Audrey~ “What about you?” Blake asked gently. “I’m home to see my family.” I shifted on my feet, not wanting to go into too much detail either. I refrained from laughing at observing how we seemed to share that minor detail. “However, I now live in San Francisco.” Blake’s dark eyebrow curled, slightly lifting, and his lower lip twitched in amusement. Gosh, he was just so damn sexy, it was distracting. “You gave up the country life for the city?” he finally teased. I let out a laugh at his expression and nodded. “Yeah.” “How’s that working out for you?” I tilted my head his way, failing to stifle my humor. “If you ignore all the absurdly confusing highways, traffic and noise, then it’s not so bad.” Blake laughed, deep and throatily. The sound sent an undeniable shiver down my spine. I chastised myself for letting a simple conversation with a man affect me so, as he replied, “That’s a lot to ignore.” You have no idea, I thought, referring to not being able to deflect his effects on me. I felt my inner strength wavering. “It is,” I responded in more ways than one, realizing that I needed to get away from here. Being here was too much. He was too much. I swallowed deeply before saying, “Well it was a pleasure to meet you, Blake. But I do have to be going now.” I felt guilty for dismissing myself, so I added, “But maybe I’ll see you around with the other’s another time?” His gaze turned speculative, and he parted his lips to speak. But he didn’t. The look he was giving me felt as though he could see right through me. It was unnerving. Within seconds, his eyes shifted again, appearing to let me off the hook. I released a silent sigh, thankful for his respecting my privacy, and not asking for any explanation. “Since my two brothers are marrying your friends, I would say there is a good chance.” Blake grinned at last, revealing a sexy dimple at the corner of his mouth. My eyes were captivated by the faint movement. Stop thinking about his mouth! He definitely had a good point, which only made me even more nervous. “I’ll see you later,” I waved with a pleasant smile and excused myself before my nerves melted into a puddle at his feet. I quickly found Abbey, Gail and Lily, and then each of their significant others to congratulate them and say my goodbyes before racing to my car. All the while feeling like I could not breathe, as though I was being suffocated by thoughts of how breathtakingly handsome Blake was. After stopping at the store for my mother’s saltine crackers, I sped home, yearning to step through the front doors, so I could be reminded of all the reasons to stay clear away from that man. All it took was sixty seconds of seeing how my father treated my mother, and it was a reality slap that love does not exist. I would not allow myself to be so effected by a man, and weakened by the idea of having one of my own. I shook my head. Being around Gail, Abbey, and Lily with their men today had just played tricks on my mind. Sure, each of my friends had found great, loving men. But it was a risk I would never take a chance on. And I would never cave to temptation. It could only lead to a broken heart.

REVIEW - The World Without a Future by Nazarea Andrews

Bought with my own pennies on Amazon!

So there is no end in sight for the humble zombie, they are still running or should it be stumbling across countries with their hunger for flesh destroying the population who get in their way and you know what I am so not tiring of them!

The World Without a Future is the first book in the World Without End series by Nazarea Andrews, set in a dystopian future where an infection has ravaged the population and turned them in to bloodthirsty monsters, the surviving few are hiding in Haven's trying to live their lives as normally as possible.

The main character is Nurrin is a first, she was born the day the world ended and she has never known a world without the infected, her life is uncomplicated, she lives with her brother Collin and is happily in a relationship with Dustin but her "happy" life is shattered when a horde attacks the Haven and she is left with no option but to run with her brother, boyfriend and her brothers best friend Finn who is not high on Nurrin's list of favourite people.

As they run for their lives, Finn realises that the infected are changing, they seem to be adapting for the worst but he soon has other things on his mind, once Dustin becomes infected, Finn and Nurrin leave him to try and get him an antidote, leaving Collin behind to look after him.

Finn and Nurrin cannot stand one another, though I think she hates him the most however they do have chemistry in spades but Nurrin still has Dustin and the thought of get him the medicine he desperately needs drives her on.

Nurrin is such a strong character, some women in these stories can come across as a bit needy and always needing a man to save them, Nurrin is more than capable of making her way in the world by herself but she does need Finn to help her get in to the other Havens, his name opens doors but he won't reveal why.

The World Without A Future is a great read, some of the scenes with the infected are truly terrifying, Nazarea has done really well painting her picture of North America on its knees and she has created some amazing characters that you will root for and in the case of Finn, fall in love with a little bit.

Perfect for fans of dystopia and zombie fiction!

The World Without a Future is awarded 5 out of 5

BLOG TOUR - Hild by Nicola Griffith

Welcome to my blog tour spot for Hild by Nicola Griffth

Today I want to tell you all about this new release from Nicola, my review will be coming next month but below is a taste of what this book is all about.

'You are a prophet and seer with the brightest mind in an age. Your blood is that of the man who should have been king ...That's what the king and his lords see. And they will kill you, one day.'

Hild is born into a world in transition. In seventh-century Britain, small kingdoms are merging, often and violently. A new religion is coming ashore; the old gods’ priests are worrying. Edwin of Northumbria plots to become overking of the Angles, ruthlessly using every tool at his disposal: blood, bribery, belief.

Hild is the king’s youngest niece. She has the powerful curiosity of a bright child, a will of adamant, and a way of seeing the world—of studying nature, of matching cause with effect, of observing human nature and predicting what will happen next—that can seem uncanny, even supernatural, to those around her. She establishes herself as the king’s seer. And she is indispensable—until she should ever lead the king astray. The stakes are life and death: for Hild, her family, her loved ones, and the increasing numbers who seek the protection of the strange girl who can read the world and see the future.

Hild brings a beautiful, brutal world—and one of its most fascinating, pivotal figures, the girl who would become St. Hilda of Whitby—to mesmerising, unforgettable life.

Praise for Hild
‘Deeply engaging ... her insight into human nature and eye for telling detail is as keen as that of the extraordinary Hild herself. The novel resonates to many of the same chords as Beowulf, the legends of King Arthur, Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones - to the extent that Hild begins to feel like the classic on which those books are based’ - Neal Stephenson

'Vivid, vital, and visceral, Hild's history reads like a thriller' - Val McDermid

'You could describe Hild as being like Game of Thrones without the dragons, but this is so much deeper than that, so much richer. A glorious, intensely passionate walk through an entirely real landscape, Hild leads us into the dark ages and makes them light, and tense, and edgy and deeply moving. The research is flawless, the characters fully alive' - Manda Scott

'Nicola Griffith is an awe-inspiring visionary, and I am telling everyone to snatch this book up. Hild is not just one of the best historical novels I have ever read - I think it's one of the best novels, period. It sings with pitch-perfect emotional resonance, and I damn well believe in this woman and everyone she engages. I finished the book full of gratitude that it exists, and longing for more'
- Dorothy Allison

'What a fabulous book! Hild has all the joys of historical fiction - transportation into a strange, finely detailed world - along with complex characters and a beautiful evocation of the natural world. But the tensions of the gathering plot make Hild feel like a quick read - too quick! I fell into this world completely and was sorry to come out. Truly, truly remarkable' - Karen Joy Fowler

‘I was utterly enthralled. This book is a triumph.’ — Robin Sloan

‘Hild is a book as loving as it is fierce, brilliant and accomplished. To read it felt like a privilege and a gift.’ — Amal El-Mohtar, NPR

‘…dazzling… Griffith’s lyrical prose emphasizes the savagery of the political landscape, in which religion, sex, and superstition are wielded mercilessly for personal gain.’ — Rachel Abramowitz, Paris Review Daily

‘A book that deserves a place alongside T.H. White, to say nothing of Ellis Peters. Elegantly written—and with room for a sequel.’ — Kirkus

‘Splendid...not only beautiful but also meaningful... I can hardly wait for the next.’ — Brian Attebery, Los Angeles Review of Books

‘Griffith triumphs with this intelligent, beautifully written, and meticulously researched novel.’ — Booklist

‘Hild is magnificent, an urgent, expansive pleasure... The world changes within the book, within Hild, and within the reader lucky enough to fall under its power. It is a rich and inspired work of fiction.’ — Lambda Literary Review

Nicola Griffith has won a Nebula Award, the James Tiptree, Jr. Award, the World Fantasy Award and six Lambda Literary Awards. A native of Yorkshire - now a dual US/UK citizen - Nicola is a onetime self-defence instructor who turned to writing full-time upon being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1993. She lives with her wife in Seattle.

I knew from the moment I first saw her she was the one. The only girl I could ever want. The only girl I could ever love. She is light. I am darkness. She is innocent. I’ve done too much. She is good. I am bad. She is my every dream. I should be her every nightmare. We come from different worlds. She’s…perfect. And I’m… Not. Somehow she wants me anyway. So we’ll grasp at what we can. We’re going to make this summer count. She’s my secret. And I’m hers. The problem with secrets is they never last for long. And when others discover we’re together, they’ll do whatever it takes to keep us apart. All I know is: I won’t let them. Because Reverie Hale? She’s mine.

  HIS REVERIE Excerpt:

“Thirsty?” I jump at the sound of a soft female voice, my hand jerking so the hose splashes me right in the face. Muttering a curse, I drop the hose and reach out blindly, wrenching the faucet off with one hand as I swipe at my eyes with the back of the other. I hear the girl laugh and I whirl around, fully prepared to find some bratty preteen Hale daughter mocking me. But she’s not a preteen. Not even close. More like around my age. She’s tall and slender, her long blonde hair falling far past bared tan shoulders. She’s wearing some sort of sundress or whatever you call it and she’s pretty much covered since it hits just above her knees though her arms are exposed since the dress is sleeveless. The sun catches her just right though, shining through the thin fabric of her skirt so I can see through it. My gaze drops and all I can see is long, long legs through the shadowy fabric. Damn. Those sexy legs are endless.  She clears her throat, like she knows exactly where I’m looking and what I’m thinking and I jerk my gaze up guiltily to meet hers, feeling like a jackass. That’s when I notice her eyes are blue. As blue as the sky above us, and she’s so damn pretty, with delicate features and pink, pink lips, that I can’t seem to form words. “Who are you?” she asks curiously. Her voice washes over me, sweet and melodic and now it’s my turn to clear my throat to get the lump out so I can freaking speak. “Who are you?” I ask back like an idiot. She smiles shyly and my entire body reacts, a bolt of electricity seeming to go through me. “I asked first.” “Are you Hale’s daughter?” If she is, that sucks because holy hell she’s hot but yeah. She’s completely untouchable if she’s a Hale.

REVIEW - Perfected by Kate Jarvik Birch

Thank you to Entangled for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review

Perfected is set in a world, which doesn't seem to far in our future, a world where a legislation has been passed allowing humans to be genetically engineered so they are perfect and then sold as "pets" to the rich as playthings for them and their families.

This story centres on Ella who has been brought up in a "kennel", she has been trained since birth to be demure and has learnt the proper etiquette for all situations, she is to be the new pet for a rich congressman's daughter, she will not want for anything.

As a pet she is literally treated like a dog, she has a special diet not eating what the rest of the family does, she is micro chipped and she wear a tag in the form of a necklace with her name on it but she is happy, she loves her new family even is a couple of them don't seem too pleased to see her.

As she explores her new world she finds out that her family had a pet before she came along but that pet was sent back to the kennels to be re-trained., she also finds out that a lot of people are against having girls as pets they compare it to keeping a slave, the congressman's next door neighbour is one of them and she offers to help Ella to safety but Ella does not see any threat and continues happily living her life.

Following a party, Ella is taken against her will and is exposed to the people who help pets escape and start new lives but she does not realise she has been chipped and is quickly returned back to congressman but on her return she starts to question her life and how she fits in, trying to find out more about her predecessor and she meets a fellow pet who paints a less than perfect picture of what the future may hold.

The congressman genuinely gave me the creeps, he was totally besotted with Ella, he treated her better than his wife and daughter, his son is also falling for Ella and she finds herself with strange new feelings for him but as a pet it is frowned on, what should she do, live her life in her luxurious prison or follow these new feelings and her heart?

I really enjoyed Perfected, Ella does come across as extremely naive but she has been raised totally unaware of a lot of real life situations, she cannot even read or swim and all her naivety is what makes her such an endearing character.  The ending didn't feel like the story was over and I hope to hear more about Ella's journey in the future.

REVIEW - Poppy does Paris by Nicola Doherty

Thank you to Headline for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review

To be honest these day I don't read much chick lit at all, in my younger days I devoured all things in this genre but as I have got older my tastes have broadened slightly however I have a soft spot still for this type of book, its my guilty pleasure and I was excited to read Poppy does Paris the first instalment in the Girls on Tour series, a five part novella series with interlinked characters from Nicola Doherty.

Poppy works in publishing and is sent to Paris to woo a famous author tagging along with her is Charlie her slightly younger and oh so slightly annoying colleague.  The thought of a trip to the infamous city of L'Amour feels her with dismay, it is the city of love, she currently has no man in her life and the man she is going to spend her time in Paris with drives her up the wall.

She does however come up with a plan, she will mix business with pleasure, she will have a few nights of fun with Charlie but of course things never go to plan despite the sexiest underwear known to man, he is more interested in watching sport on the tv instead of looking at Poppy.

A bright spark to her disastrous trip is the author she is in Paris to see, incredibly handsome, charismatic, he is the full package and also he is allegedly single, will Poppy's love life start to look up?

I just want to remind you that this is a novella, not a full length novel but it is a great story with touches of humour and romance plus the gorgeous setting of Paris, if you love your chick lit authors then this will be a great addition to your reading list.

COVER REVEAL - Burning Through Gravity by Addison Moore

Released: August 2014

BURNING THROUGH GRAVITY—they soared so high so fast they never expected the fall.

Two beautiful souls.

Two seemingly innocent deceptions.

Once they meet, Stevie and Ford explode into one another in a ball of lust, hotter than a July moon. Ford is assertive, dominate and in control, that is until Stevie brings him to his knees. He thinks she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever met both inside and out. Stevie thinks he’s sweet, and sort of goofy—of course it doesn’t hurt that he drips sex like honey.

Stevie is starting to fall hard for Ford.

And Ford is all in with Stevie.

She wonders if he could ever forgive her for what she’s about to do.

She wonders if she wants him to.

They say love conquers all.

But love never met two liars like Stevie and Ford.

His lie cost her a few sleepless nights.

Her lie will cost him everything.

Seven Weeks to Forever

Cassidy Jordan knows she'll die a few weeks after her eighteenth birthday, and she can't wait. This is her second time here, and she knows what's waiting for her in The Life-After — the place most mistakenly call "the afterlife." Getting back there is supposed to be easy: she just has to find nineteen-year-old Riley Davis and help him get his life on track. But doing that isn't easy at all.

By the time Cassidy finds Riley, she has only seven weeks to help him before her time is up. Riley will die too young if she fails, and she'll never see The Life-After or have another chance at life again. But no one told her helping Riley would mean dating him; she hasn't dated anyone since the love of her first life caused her death the last time she turned eighteen. And no one warned her she'd cross paths with Selena Jensen, her ex-best-friend who hasn't forgotten why their friendship ended and is protective of Riley. Then there's Cassidy's family, who thinks she's a normal girl headed to Harvard in the fall. When her aunt discovers that's not the plan, she shows up to try and drag Cassidy from L.A. to Boston.

Helping Riley is already hard with her aunt and Selena in the way. It's almost impossible when Cassidy realizes she's falling for him and is faced with a choice: give Riley the life he's meant for and leave when it's time, or give up eternity for the true love she's never had, knowing Riley will die the same way she did in her first life and that her entire existence could end at any time.

As I finished reading this book yesterday I was faced with a major panic how on earth was I going to get across to my readers all that makes this book so good.  It is a love story which is easy enough to convey but it also deals with the after life and the consequences of our actions, and this is what I need to tell you about today.

Seven Weeks to Forever is first of all a gorgeous looking book, I was lucky enough to receive an actual physical copy, the cover was gorgeous and I know it sounds daft but the book feels nice too, so big thumbs up for the paper that makes it up!!

Anyway I need to concentrate on the inside!, the book is told from the POV of Cassidy Jordan, seventeen at the beginning of the book, recently moved to LA, she has seven weeks to live, she will die a few weeks after her eighteenth birthday, she is not scared, she has been expecting this.

Cassidy has been here before and she has been sent back from The Life After (what we know as the afterlife) to help a young man find his way after tragedy has struck him, that young man is Riley Davis and for the next seven weeks it is up to her to make him start living his life, if she fails Riley will die far too young and she will lose her right to return to the Life After, the only problem she has no idea how to turn his life around.

Cassidy and Riley's first encounters start off almost by fate as he comes to her rescue one night and they meet again shortly after in a record store, they seem drawn to one another and they are soon getting to know one another a lot better.

There is no way I can describe this book perfectly without giving away a lot of spoilers and I hate spoilers, I haven't read the third book in a huge recently at the cinema trilogy because I accidentally read a spoiler in a review which just literally spoiled the whole thing for me.

Seven Weeks to Forever is such a great read what I can say about the rest of the book is this, Cassidy know she has to get Riley back on the right path and when she does he will live a long life and she will return to the Life After however a problem arises, actually a couple of problems, the first is the reintroduction of Cassidy's ex-best friend Selena who is not happy to see Cassidy at all, the second? Well Cassidy did not think she would start fall for Riley and as she helps him she knows that she is going to lose him in order to help him.

It is a great read, I haven't done it justice here at all! But I hope this is enough of a taste for you to go and try it for yourself!

From Chapter 3:
I gently lift his fingers from my shoulder, leaving him with a polite smile. I get only two steps away before I find myself being spun around. I wince as the guy wrenches my arm.
“No need to be so rude, darlin’. Stay and talk a while.”
“I’m meeting someone,” I tell him, trying to free myself again. He leers at me, digging his fingers deeper into my skin. My arm will probably bruise, but that’s nothing compared with what I could do to him if I wanted to. Energy can be a powerful thing. There are other people watching, though, and I can’t risk one of them figuring out that there’s something different about me. I have a feeling that would be breaking one of the rules.
I open my mouth to speak instead, fighting against what I really want to tell this guy. Running my mouth will only make this get ugly, and fast. Before I can say anything, though, someone else beats me to it.
“She’s with me.”
I turn my head in the direction of the voice at the same time my friend with the iron grip does. He looks annoyed, but it’s all I can do to keep my jaw in place. Riley Davis, it seems, shows up in the strangest places.
The guy holding my arm releases me and takes a step back. “You should teach your girlfriend some manners,” he mutters.
Riley raises an eyebrow at him, but he doesn’t respond. I look at the guys still standing by the apartment building, wondering if Riley just got us into more trouble than what I was in on my own. They stay where they are, though, and the guy who grabbed my arm takes another few steps away from me.
Riley grabs my hand and pulls me in the other direction without saying a word. A surge of energy shoots through me, and I fight to keep my balance. It’s almost impossible to hold my hand steady in his. A tingling feeling spreads through my body, making it hard for me to think.
This has to be an energy drain, somehow caused by the guy who grabbed hold of my arm. I tried hard not to let our energy connect, though, and that doesn’t explain why this is happening now that I’m holding Riley’s hand. I doubt his energy is at rock bottom like the other guy’s is.
I take a few breaths, trying to clear my mind. We walk for three blocks in silence before I get my bearings and finally find my voice.
“Thank you,” I tell him. I swear I hear him snort.
“Yeah, no problem.” He sounds put-out and doesn’t even try to hide it. If he recognizes me from the concert last night, his face doesn’t show it.
We walk a few more steps and then he stops so abruptly that I almost plow into him. He drops my hand.
“Do your parents know you’re out roaming the city in the middle of the night?”
His jaw is set, and I’m pretty sure that’s irritation I see on his face. Well, that’s interesting. I wonder if getting mad at strangers is something he does a lot.
“My parents died when I was six.” I regret my words the instant they leave my mouth. Surprise replaces the irritation in his eyes, and then I see exactly what I didn’t want to see. He’s uncomfortable now. Talking about death seems to do that to people. Discomfort isn’t exactly what I was going for, but maybe I shouldn’t care. It’s better than being lectured.
“I’m sorry.” His eyes drop to the sidewalk and stay there.
“Don’t be.” I start walking again.
“Do you make a habit of walking alone down dark streets at night, this close to bars and people drunk out of their minds?” he calls after me.
Oh, joy. Here we go again.
I stop and turn around. He sounds angry, and a quick check of his energy shows me little red sparks shooting everywhere. Yup, that’s definitely the color of anger.
“I got to town a week ago. What am I supposed to do, leave a breadcrumb trail to my house and stay there until new friends magically show up at my door?” I stop talking when something occurs to me. He’s out here alone, too. I put my hands on my hips and glare at him. “Why are you giving me a hard time, anyway? I don’t see you working the buddy system for safety.”
He narrows his eyes. It’s completely the wrong time for me to notice that they’re this incredible shade of deep brown, lit up with little golden flecks here and there. I didn’t notice his eyes last night, but they sure have my attention now.
Stop staring, I tell myself. Easier thought than done.
“I’m a little bigger than you,” he tells me. I think he’s noticed me staring, because he’s staring right back. I feel warmth run through me and am about to check my energy when I realize energy has nothing to do with it. The heat is in my cheeks. Curse him, I’m blushing.
