BLOG TOUR - The Body by D Nichole King

The Body (The Spirit Trilogy Book 2)

by d. Nichole King

They vowed to never return.

Their lives depend on it. With last summer behind them, Lucas and Carrie think they’re safe.

Only the Moore House isn’t through with them.

When Lucas receives bad news, the search for the elusive half-demon who holds the key to Lucas’s death becomes first priority. The creature might be Lucas’s only shot at finding his soul. Problem is he doesn’t want to be found.

Dead ends and blocked attempts leave them wary.

Lucas seems to be fading away. His eyes no longer glow, his skin pales. Exhaustion consumes him, leaving him distant when he’s with Carrie. Not knowing what’s happening to him kills her.

From all around, shadows creep in, and there’s nowhere to hide.

Then, a mysterious stranger suddenly appears in town and unlocks a deadly secret from Lucas’s past. When the Moore House becomes their only escape—

No one is safe.

So finally I get my sticky paws on the second book in the Sprit Trilogy, the last book I made no secret about the fact it scared me sh**tless at one particular scene, would this one do the same and would it be as awesome as it predecessor?

It was, now my review is not going to spoil what is happening in the book for you but I will tell you some bits and bobs.

Yes the story follows on from the happenings in The Spirit and straight away we meet the gorgeous Lucas and his girlfriend Carrie and from the get go things start to unravel a bit, Mike who I hope you remember from the first book is badly injured in a football game and during the game Carrie sees something strange which Lucas can't understand.

Not only that Lucas is acting strange and becoming distant, Carrie want to help him but he is not letting on what is wrong and that is slowly destroying her.

She is cheered up by the arrival of her friends from back home Jessica and Stacy who bring her some much needed fun, they are both enchanted by Lucas but Carrie is shocked to hear Lucas's revelation about Jessica, she is a witch which comes as a shock to Jessica and Carrie!

Jessica has been having troubling dreams for months and they seem to always come true, her most recent dream involves Carrie and her death.  Can they stop this from happening?

Well I'm not telling but I will tell you this The Body is a cracking tale, I love romance mixed with supernatural and this book does it really well, did I get scared this time?  Well yes but it is my own fault for reading with the lights off (on my Kindle just in case you think I have excellent vision!!), it enchants, romances and spooks all culminating in a great end which lines it up for book three, there better be a book three!

Lucas and Carrie are a great couple but I do have a soft spot for the supporting characters especially her grandparents and one of the scenes I loved was the cooking of a lot of pies, yummy!

The lovely D has done a great job in bringing this book to life, I swear my room got colder reading it! Buy a blanket and buy this book!

The Spirit (The Spirit Trilogy Book 1)

Carrie Reese doesn’t believe in ghosts—until she falls in love with one.

From the moment he walks through the door, a cool breeze surrounds Carrie. She knows Lucas is too good to be true...and he is. Because he’s dead.

Devastated over her parents’ divorce, 17 year-old Carrie is spending the summer with her grandparents in Villisca—the creepiest town in Iowa. Even though it makes her skin crawl, Carrie doesn’t regard the haunting of the infamous Moore House to be anything more than superstition.

Lucas, however, knows exactly why the mysterious farmhouse should be avoided. But that’s not what brings him to town. As a ghost, he cannot cross over into the afterlife until he finds his soul, and there’s someone in Villisca who can help. Instead, he finds Carrie. And there’s something about her that draws him in. Why didn’t he find her sooner? Like, when he was alive?

When the force of their love disrupts the containment spell around the Moore House, the rift to Hell inside the attic opens, releasing the demons. Since love isn’t meant to be shared between the living and the dead, the demons target the lovers, intent on dragging them to where their souls will face eternal destruction.

Sometimes there’s more at risk than merely dying.

About the Author
Since I was born and raised in Iowa, I like to create stories where my home state is the setting. There's nothing like small-town Midwest scenery to create the perfect backdrop for an amazing tale!

I've always loved to read and write. I'll read anything: Classics, fantasy, contemporary, mystery, horror. It doesn't matter as long as it draws me in. As a kid, I was raised on authors such as Lurlene McDaniel, R.L. Stine, Danielle Steele, Mary Higgins Clark, Stephen King, and Shakespeare.

Writing-wise, my fondness lies in the YA/NA genre, though I do have a couple of women's fiction stories swimming around in my head.

When not writing, I'm usually curled up with a book, scrapbooking, or doing yet another load of laundry.

Along with her incredible husband, I live in small-town Iowa with my four adorable (yet ornery) children and their dog, Peaches.

The Spirit is the first book of The Spirit Trilogy, and is my debut novel.

Ever wished you could just make something appear?

For Josie that wish is about to become a reality, after a disastrous birthday where she is dumped by her boyfriend the arrival of two hot new students at school is about to make her life a whole lot more interesting!

The arrival of Reid Wentworth at her school destroys everything she thought she knew, her family, herself, she has lost her brother and her father has disappeared, is she ready for more heartache in her life?

Reid is different and as he gets to know Josie he shows her what he can do, he is an Oculi, he can create things from his mind and wipe them away too and he shocks Josie by revealing to her that she is too and that her parents knew all about it.

Needless to say the shock of finding this out is great but not as great as an attempt on their lives literally minutes after finding out giving Josie a crash course in how an Oculi works.

Reid reveals that the Consortium have been hunting their kind and it is up to him to train Josie to use her newly found powers.  Together they explore what Josie can do and she finds out she is very capable of creating items from her mind but she finds that Reid who is not only very handsome but is also very familiar to her, who is he to her?

There are so many awesome revelations in this book that I don't want to spoil for you plus it is littered with brilliant nerdy references from Star Wars to Marvel which appeal to a massive nerd like myself.

The story will appeal to fans of Jennifer L Armentrout and Cassandra Clare, I enjoyed it, it was a fast paced engaging read!

COVER REVEAL - Forever Found by Nazarea Andrews **GIVEAWAY**

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00025]

Today we are revealing the cover for FOREVER FOUND by Nazarea Andrews.

This is a novella that will be released on December 30th and it is the stunning conclusion to the story begun in Girl Lost.

Losing Gwen was one of the hardest things I've ever had to survive. I've never loved anyone the way I love her.

But finding her was never about that. And now that I have found her--now that she knows the truth about me and the Island, I have to trust her to believe. Because her leaving me didn't just destroy me--its killing Neverland.

I need her to love me. But we all need her to believe again.

Peter Pan has grown up and found the girl who left--but the stakes are higher than ever in this romantic conclusion to the story begun in Girl Lost.

Gwen is leaning against the window. Every time I leave her, I forget. She’s not all gangly limbs and huge eyes and dirty hair hanging in her face, flinching at her own shadow. Not anymore. That Gwen still haunts my island, but this—this Gwen is breathtaking.
She thinks she’s broken. Fractured pieces of a broken mind, held together by medication and stubborn denial. But she doesn’t see herself, not the way I do.
Lane had that right. She’s breathtaking—even now, when I know she’s sad and broken. She stands straight, a pair of thin sleep pants curving around her ass before falling loose and free to the floor. Her shoulders are back, graceful and strong, under the thick sweater she’s wearing, her hair pulled into a messy knot at the top of her head.
She can see me, my reflection in the dark glass. And I see the tension in her tighten, drawing her up and sharp, until she’s almost vibrating with it. “Why are you here?” she asks, her voice low and hoarse.
She sounds like that when she’s been crying. I know—I’ve heard her so many times, heard her tears. Wiped them away. Whispered happy thoughts until I teased a smile from her.
“Peter,” she snaps, and I jerk, out of the memories and into the moment.
“You ran away.”
She gives an unladylike snort. “You decided you were a delusion of my past, and then you expected me to sit there and listen to your insane ramblings. Thanks, but no. I can’t do that. I’ve had enough crazy for one life.” She bites her lip, and then blurts, “You stole my file, didn’t you? That’s how you know about the Boy.”
“Do you remember the firefly meadow?”
She goes still, and I smile, gently. “You do.”
“That wasn’t real,” she whispers, and I feel the shudder.
“We’d hide there, from the lsot boys. And you’d fall asleep telling me your happy thoughts, and wake up to a galaxy of fireflies, and we’d chase them until you made yourself sick, laughing. And then I’d hold you and we’d stare at the stars, and you always said they were different. It smelled like jasmine and honey-“
“And wild woods and freedom,” she whispers, her blue eyes impossibly wide in her pretty face. I take a tentative step toward her, and touch her fingers.
Why are your stars different?
“It wasn’t a delusion, Gwendy. You know it wasn’t. Trust yourself.”
She shudders. “Can’t. My mind lies. It wasn’t—“
“Gwendy,” I say, desperately. Her eyes are filling with tears and I can feel the disbelief, the way it will tear apart the world I’ve known, and the girl I’ve loved, and I can’t. I move without thinking, catch her head and bring her lips to mine.

REVIEW - Bully by Penelope Douglas

Title: Bully (Fall Away Series #1)
Author: Penelope Douglas
Publisher: Piatkus Books
Release Date: 6th November 2014 (UK Paperback)

Thank you to Piatkus for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review

A few months back I was given the chance to read Rival by Penelope Douglas, I really enjoyed the story but as I had jumped in a couple books in to the series I was a tiny bit lost as to who all the characters where, something I have now rectified in reading this brilliant book, the first in the Fall Away series - Bully.

Tate and Jared have been friends for a long time, best friends and next door neighbours but after a summer away at his fathers, a teenage Jared comes home a changed boy, his friendship with Tate a distant memory as he turns against her, starting rumours, playing pranks just being plain nasty to her, something that she can't understand having done nothing wrong.

Tate doesn't have to suffer him for much longer she is off to France for a year, leaving the now totally obnoxious man whore behind but she won't be away forever.

On her return she is a changed girl, no longer taking any shit from anyone, she takes Jared's best friend Madoc down a peg by humiliating him in the cafeteria, she is not scared of him or his friend but she still finds him to be a total pain but little by little cracks start to appear in his bullish armour, he seems to be looking out for her but Tate does not want to let him in at all.

As the book progresses you definitely start to see a more caring of side of Jared but he still messes with Tate's mind, the question is will Tate forgive him for treating her like dirt, will she discover the motives behind his change in character?

Uh, this book is hot! Jared is gorgeous and a complete rat bag to start with but as the pages turn you can see him turning in to a very hot young man, he does make some stupid decisions but ultimately his motive seems to be to have Tate's back even if he has a daft way of showing it.

Will she let him back in?

The couples chemistry throws sparks from the pages, making it an extremely sexy read, Penelope has done a great job bringing such intense feelings to the pages and it makes for an amazing read, I'm so glad I went back to book one to fill me in on the characters I read about in Rival.

BLOG TOUR - The Union by T H Hernandez **GIVEAWAY**

Welcome to my Blog Tour stop for

The Union by T. H. Hernandez

Read my review and enter the giveaway below!

After global warming and a second civil war devastated the former United States, two different societies rose from the ashes – the Union, a towering high-tech utopia, hugging the perimeter of the continent, and the devastated, untamed midsection known as the Ruins.

Seventeen-year-old Evan Taylor has an easy, privileged life in the Union. What she doesn’t have is any idea what to do with the rest of her life. She only knows she wants to do something meaningful, to make a difference in the lives of others.

When she’s kidnapped and taken into the Ruins as a pawn in a dispute involving her boyfriend, Bryce, her ideal world is turned upside down. What she learns while in the Ruins shakes her faith in everything she’s ever known, from Bryce, to her family, and even the Union itself.

Now Evan must choose whether to stay with Cyrus, the sexy, resourceful survivor who believes she’s in the Ruins for a reason, or return to the only life she’s ever known. But when she stumbles upon a dangerous plot that threatens both worlds, her decision could tear her apart.

Most of the dystopian novels I have read of late have been full on end of the world, nothing left reads, The Union is different, set in a future United States, a second civil war has destroyed the country leaving it with two very different societies.

The Union of the title is a hi-tech Utopia full of gorgeous people and shiny gadgets, it hugs the coasts of the States, in the centre of the country are The Ruins the remains of the old country, destroyed and allegedly deserted.

Evan is a teen living in The Union, she has had a very privileged upbringing but she wants to leave her family home and try and find out what she wants to do with the rest of her life, her best friends have their lives planned out but she doesn't have a clue so when her friends make their way out of town she jumps at the opportunity to go with them.

On route to the other areas of The Union, Evan comes across her school friend Bryce, did I mention he was gorgeous?, no?! Well he is, a suitable amount of flirtatious behaviour goes on but something doesn't ring true about him especially after meeting his friend Jack who calls Bryce by a different name.  A distant alarm bell rings in Evan's head.

But before she can find out what he is up too, she is taken, kidnapped and when she wakes up she finds she is not in The Union anymore she is in The Ruins, a place where nobody is supposed to live but seems to be full of Union supplies and people out to make trouble for The Union.  Her kidnappers definitely seem to have an agenda but thankfully she manages to escape but that is not the end of her ordeal.

Following her escape she finds herself near death's door but thankfully she is rescued by a group of young people and it is then that her life is turned upside down.  She goes from a pampered teen to a hardworking survivor living of the land and she meets Cyrus, who makes her previous love interest Bryce fade from her memory, she begins to look at her life differently, does she want to go back to her old life?

When a threat to not only her but to The Union arises she has to make a choice whether to stay with Cyrus who she is falling hard for or should she go back to her old life to warn them that trouble is brewing in the Ruins.

The Union is a great new look at the young adult dystopian genre, it has a spirited female lead and some nice eye candy but it also has a thrilling plot which takes you from the shiny clean Union to the deserted Ruins.  It ends with Evan making her decision and leaves the door open for book 2.

A recommended read!
