The Sunday Post - #4 - 14th June 2015

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I'm gonna recap my week and give you an idea of what I have coming up plus anything else newsworthy!

Last week I had sick kids and cold weather, this week thankfully was a total polar opposite (thank goodness!!!).

My girls are miles better and have been running about like maniacs, school is nearing its last few weeks so they have been enjoying lots of school trips.

My eldest took part in our local Gaelic mod (which for readers not familiar in a big competition of songs, readings, poems etc in the Gaelic language), she loved it, didn't win but got a rosette!

And the weather this week has been amazing, 25 degrees c, tropical for Scotland!

This weeks huge topic of conversation has been Game of Thrones and what happened to poor Shireen, as a reader of the books and avid watcher of the series I really wish they had not done it the way they did.  It did spoil it for me but I will still be tuned in on Monday (we get it a day later than the States) to see how in concludes.

I really wish the next book in  the series would come out but I know GRR Martin likes to take his time!

I hope you have all had fab weeks!

This week I should have a few blitzes but I don't have banners for them (sad face!), I am actually quiet and that is deliberately so, I like to catch up on my reading and hope to get some reviews up!

I have received physical and e-copies of some fab books this week, thank you to all the publishers for sending them! Let me know if you have read any of them!

Happy Sunday!

  1. You're from Scotland! How cool! I don't think I'm following a blogger from Scotland, you're the first. Exciting!

Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. Know that I'm following you now via bloglovin and I comment back. So if you're comment thirsty like me, let's quench each other's thirst :)

    Happy weekend!

      Have a good week!

  2. Glad things are better this week! I know what you mean about Game of Thrones- I was shocked. Even if it does happen in the books (and I'm not sure it will- at least not like that), I didn't enjoy watching it. The show's getting sketchy for me. And I hope the next book comes soon too- the risk of spoilers is getting higher the longer he takes. :)

    Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by Greg, it was horrible to watch, my eldest is 8 and it was just a bit close to the bone. Yes the sooner the next book comes out the better!

      Have a fantastic week!

  3. You had a big week on the blog last week.

I wondered if GoT (the show) mirrored the books. It's not a genre I read, though I do watch fantasy type stuff. And I tried s1 but just didn't get into it.

    1. It really isn't to everybody's taste, a lot of it is the same but as is always the case there is quite a few differences!

  4. The Gaelic mod sounds like a great thing to participate in! I kind of wish I could learn a little Gaelic... alas I don't really have time for that.

You have had really warm weather! Have you been able to sleep at night? When it gets really warm here (over 30) I can hardly sleep at night because we don't have air-conditioning...

I'm not familiar with any of your new books, but they look really good! I want to get my hands on From a Distant Star.

Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    1. I only know a couple of phrases in Gaelic but there is still a lot of people in our area who can speak it fluently.

My AC is having the windows wide open, can sleep but do find myself waking up a lot!

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

  7. School ends here in 2 weeks, later than usual because we had 6 snow days. Glad I'm no longer teaching, temps have been in the 90s F and humid and schools aren't air conditioned. If it keeps up they're talking about no school due to heat! Glad your daughter had fun and did well in the competition.

  15. The Game of Thrones episode was just so ughughugh all I could think was "Book Stannis would never endorse this scene" :/ I liked Dany's scene a lot even though they cut her arc short by a lot but tonight we'll see whether or not things will be fixed or destroyed some more. I just want to shelter Cersei away from all evils just at the sight of the episode title ;_;

  16. *covers eyes* I haven't watched the new episode of GoT yet and/or read the books! Don't shoot! I own all of them as ebooks though and I really need to jump on that, hopefully soon. So happy that your children feel better, I know how awful it is to be sick.

Also, is it bad that when I found out that you're from Scotland, the first thing to pop into my head was Jamie Fraser from Outlander? Sorry, I'm an awful fangirl who wishes that she was cool enough to know Gaelic :)

Congrats to your daughter on earning a rosette and I hope that next week is just as lovely as this one has been for you!

P.S I just followed your blog because you're super awesome :)

Thanks for the follow, I have got you on bloglovin' so I can fangirl you!

  20. That's good to hear this week was a lot beter! That gaelic mod sounds fun. I visited scotland onde and I think gaelic looks like a cool language. We also had warm weather, between 20-25 most of the week, but not too warm yet. I haven't read the book or watched the tv series for Game of Thrones, for some reason I never got the urge to watch it and those books are huge.
Nice haul you got this week, I like the cover for Dear OPS with the chocolate bar, yum! I have heard good thgins about Ready Player One and have it on my to-read list. I hope you'll enjoy your books and have a great week!

  29. The Gaelic mod sounds great. Good for your daughter. Armada was my Waiting on Wednesday this week, too, but you've gotten to read it. It sounds like so much fun. I read Ready Player One last month and loved it. Hope you will, too.

I hope you're enjoying the the warm weather. When you aren't used to it it's not so fun sometimes. Luckily, we have a/c since during the day it has been around 90 degrees (about 30 C, I think), but it's at night that I wouldn't be able to sleep since it's only cooling off to about 70 (about 20 C).

Enjoy your books and have a good week!
