The Sunday Post - #9 - 19th July 2015

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I'm gonna recap my week and give you an idea of what I have coming up plus anything else newsworthy!

So last week I was high fiving a million angels, do you remember it went like this...

This week I'm more like this....

Oh yes, I am going back to work but it could be a lot worse, I could hate my job! Thankfully I don't.

Anyhoo, this week I have been busy, In real life me and the kids have done various things from the boring - getting a school tie to the exciting - taking them to a pirates adventure afternoon, they run about, I eat cake.

Also a trip to the dentist happened on Wednesday, thankfully it was painless but I have been told I need a filling which will cost money, I will think about that one.

More exciting we went to Blair Drummond Safari Park which is near Stirling, Scotland fans, I have been to this park many times over the last 25 years, it is brilliant with plenty to see and do including the adorable meerkats!

The only downside was I got my forehead burnt, it was a cloudy day but it was warm, lesson learnt!

The last couple of days have just been chilling, catching up on laundry and other housework, the joys!

In my blog world, I have been busy! I have reviewed a few books and I have been tweaking with things on the blog. Also known as making myself angry!

What I have been trying to do is box text, which I have been trying to teach myself via these websites here -

This is what I am trying to do!!!!
I had it figured out, it did look good, then I looked at it on the mobile version of the blog and to be blunt it looked s**t, so I have decided to stick with what I know.

Another site I have discovered is Codeacademy (through the book Techbitch) which teaches you the basics of HTML and CSS which may sound dull and boring but I like learning how things work so I am going to give it a bash.

So that is my week, hope you have all had a great week!

I have received physical and e-copies of some fab books this week, thank you to all the publishers for sending them!
Let me know if you have read any of them!

Happy Sunday!

  1. You're very patient, at least. I wish I had even the slightest to learn on my own. Goodness knows there are a lot of things I want to change on my blog. Sigh.

  2. Sounds like you had a fun week on the whole. Pity your holiday is coming to an end though. Hope you feel refreshed. All your books are unknowns to me but if I was to put my hand out and pick one up it would be...Fairytale Beginnings!

  3. I can't believe you get through so much in a week. I think 4 posts in the week are pretty amazing when I get them done!

And well done on the text box. I once had some code saved to allow me to do it but I've got no idea what happened to it! Sigh!

The text box caused many swear words to come from my mouth!

  4. I love meercats! They seem to have so much personality and I'd love to play with those guys! It's been a while since I've been to any zoo/safari type parks as they never seem to have enough seats for you to take a rest! Have a good booky week!

    1. Thanks, I know I think I am relatively fit but running about after two kids round these places makes me need a seat about every ten metres!!

  7. I love Codeacademy, It help me remember what I forgot when I went to school 2 years ago for web design. Hoping to start making websites soon but HTML is so intimidating but I have no issues with CSS. I am totally backwards :)

I hope you enjoy all your new books!

Have a great week, Heather! Happy Reading!

  8. How the hell did you manage to get that many posts up? I don't have any of the books you got this week. I am really curious about Proxima. I need to read Dune, it is on my bucket list. I have heard it is amazing. Happy reading!

    1. Lots and lots of coffee! This week I will doing a lot less!

I have always wanted to read Dune and it seems to be everywhere as I think it is the anniversary of the book coming out, plus I like the fact there are loads of books following it!

  9. The Museum of Things Left Behind sounds good, and sad, too. I will be checking it out on Goodreads. I have to come back and check out all the html goodies. I am always trying to figure things out. Ha ha, I am a fellow redhead and I think the only thing that would keep us from burning is the white zinc paste lifeguards put on their noses, spread all over our bodies. LOL. Have a great week. :)

  10. What a fun post! Enjoy your new books...and The Wrong Knickers piqued my curiosity.

I would love to do that "boxed text" thing, too, but alas...too many mobile viewers are out there! I have seen my own posts on my iPhone...and everything is okay, except you can't see the sidebars. At all. Don't know if there's a way to fix that.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week!

  12. Sounds like a busy but fun week! Well, except for the dentist. Fillings aren't fun, and they cost more than I'd like, but don't put it off - it will only get worse, and worst-case scenario you'll end up needing a root canal or losing part or all of the tooth.

Nice books this week - I love the cover for Fairytale Beginnings.

I've heard of CodeAcademy; I'll be interested to hear how you like it. I'd like to learn more html and CSS.

    Have a great week!

The safari place looks great! Meercats are definitely cute :)
I would love to learn both html and CSS, but I should get my MA over and done with before I try to fill my head with even more things .
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

  16. I need to mess around with the mobile format on my blog but I don't have a huge amount of time and I know if I do something will invariably go wrong and I won't have time to fix it which will drive me insane! So sorry to hear about the sunburn. Those are never fun - particularly on the face. I hope the filling goes well. Don't like those at all. Have a great week and I hope this one is more high fiving angels than oh no!

  17. I hate going to the dentist, I am terrified of the dentist. But that's good to hear your visit was painless. Meerkats are so adorable, I always love seeing them when we go to a zoo. I plan on teaching myself some more html and CSS some day, but haven't made time for it so far. I know enough to code a post from scratch, but know hardly any CSS, luckily googling helped me with a few things so far. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

I also like playing around with the html but it's so frustrating when you can't work something out. I'm going to check out a few of the links you shared and see if I can swear a bit more ;)
