The diary continues.....

"It began with a drum. Then the monsters came. I've been hiding ever since."

The following collections of journals were recovered from a caravan outside of Duluth, Minnesota. The exact date of recovery is not known nor is the origin of the speaker. The Bureau for the Restoration of History (BFRH) would like help in identifying the man who kept these records. This unedited record of events is still considered the most accurate history of the apocalypse that occurred on April 15th, 2011

So after the amazing first book this series is still giving me nightmares, it is creepy as, totally WTF freaky, but absolutely brilliant.

Our diary owner is still hiding from the terrors that come out at night with the drums, he is alone apart from his awesome dog Snowy - who I would love to have by my side if crazy homicidal monsters every appeared at my house - and still trying to keep one step ahead of the Unnamed.

Since the end of the last book, Richard, our diarist, has had to leave his home since the last attempt on his life, his last remaining human friend is dead and he is on the lookout for a new place to call home but when he is dogged every step by monsters, this is proving hard.

The monsters who previously where only nocturnal have started coming out during the day, not only that there are monsters that are re-animated humans and huge big creepy monsters, there all shit scary let's leave it at that.

As well as scary they are proving to be sneaky, they are toying with Richard, trying to make him slip up so they can lure him to a horrific death. As the only man alive, with the exception of the reanimated monsters, he wonders if he would be just as well letting them get him, what is the point of living like this?

Salvation comes in the form of Kristie, a young woman who has also seen many horrors of this new world and she is a real live human being, she isn't a hallucination or a trick, she is flesh and blood. She is wary but she is company and together they try and live as best as they can but shit is getting real, the monsters are everywhere.

During the day and during the night, there is nowhere safe and there is nowhere to hide, Can they survive?

This book is a total page turner, I read this and the first book within 24 hours, they are that good.  The series is not for the faint of heart and there seems to be no let up to Richard's misery.  This instalment has a great twist of an ending and it definitely gears it up for days 140 and onwards.

There are some spelling mistakes like the last book but possibly they are deliberate as Richard has a lot more to worry about than his spelling.

Don't read this book at bedtime but do read this book!
