REVIEW - The Riviera by Karen Aldous

Hello and welcome to the final day of the blog tour for The Riviera by Karen Aldous!

I hope you will stick around and read my review plus there is a giveaway below where the prize includes a Scentsy candle and a copy of this lovely book!

The journey is only as good as its end…

It’s been a hard journey, but Lizzie Lambert’s life is a Provençal dream come true. Her business is wildly successful, and with her little boy and the love of her life, Cal, she is making a beautiful home on the vineyard for their blended family.

But when Cal goes to America to support his son through a teenage crisis, it becomes clear the kid’s not the only one with some growing up to do: Cal’s glamorous ex-wife wants to get her claws in him again. As Cal spends longer and longer away, Lizzie wonders, was it all too good to be true?

Escape to Provence with Karen Aldous’ The Riviera, the perfect read for an idyllic summer.

As the summer draws to a close (actually scratch that as I live in Scotland and I don't think we have actually had a summer yet) I enjoy reading books that remind of those hazy days and invite me to kick back and sink in to the story.

The Rivera certainly does this, it is actually my first Karen Aldous book and the characters in this book Cal and Lizzy have appeared in another book called The Vineyard which I believe is about how they met - I will definitely add this to be TBR list.

Anyway this is a lovely read! Lizzy and Cal's relationship is going wonderfully, they are living the dream in France, she couldn't be any happier.

But, there is always a but!, that bliss is about to be interrupted, Cal's son in America has contacted him by email asking him to come and get him.  Needless to say Cal goes to his son, the boy sounds anxious and he wants to be there for him.  Has his ex-wife upset him or her new partner, does he have problems at school?

Cal is going to find out.

Lizzy of course gives her blessing, she trusts him and is worried about his son too, but as Cal stays away longer, alarm bells start ringing.  His ex seems to be very much in his face, is she trying to get her claws back in to him?

Will Lizzy trust her man? Will love conquer all (I know that's cheesy but love does have its uses!!!)?

The Riviera has it all beautiful cover, wonderful setting and of course friendship, romance and well thought out characters.

Obviously there is a bit more that goes on that I have not divulged but I hope this is enough to tempt you to visit this lovely book.

The perfect summer read.

Thank to Carina UK for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review

Karen Aldous enjoys village life on the edge of the north-downs in Kent with easy access to the buzz of London. Not only does she love the passive pleasures of reading and writing, she also craves the more active pursuits with her family and friends such as walking, cycling and skiing especially when they involve food and wine!

Karen gets much of her inspiration from her travels and if she had to choose, France, Greece, Switzerland, Italy and Lake Tahoe in US would be her favourites. However, wherever she goes, she discovers a new character emerges in 'Karen's World'. She likes to write about strong independent women who can direct their own lives - but struggle to control them! And, of course there's always a gorgeous hunk or two!

  2. The setting sounds fab! I am feeling very sun deprived this year so this sounds like a good way of getting some sun therapy! I love the idea of the French setting and trying to live your dream. Good that it read ok despite being book 2 also.

  4. Sometimes I enjoy reading books that fit the season and sometimes I prefer to read a book with a different season than what we're in. This sounds like a fun book, I always enjoy books with great settings.
