The Sunday Post #17 - 13th September 2015

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I'm gonna recap my week and give you an idea of what I have coming up plus anything else newsworthy!

This week has been bloody cold, it took me till Thursday to actually feel heat in my legs, Summer in Scotland is truly over. Actually I don't think it has happened.

Anyway, the eye rolling is due to OTHER DRIVERS!!! I am still reasonably a baby driver (even though I have had my license since I was 18, I'm 36 now I didn't drive but that's a whole other post) and have a lot to learn but my patience has been tried this week by the following -

Cyclists en masse with no road sense
People driving too slowly (dangerously slow)
People braking for a gentle curve
People who speed up and slow down
People who are slow but will speed up to go through a speed restricted area.

No that I have that off my chest, I am loving my new just rolling with it schedule but that my end soon as I signed up for Blog Ahead 2015, this will hopefully get me super organised with loads of scheduled posts for November and onwards!

Have a lovely week everyone!

I'm about half way through this book, it is about dealing with mental illness and it is just amazing. The review will be this week!

SHAUN OF THE DEAD FUNKO'S!

I have received physical and e-copies of some fab books this week, thank you to all the publishers for sending them! Also, some of them are my own purchases, the pics link to Goodreads for you to find out more!

  1. It got chilly here too this week- summer is definitely on the way out! Your books all look good this week.

Love the dystopia posts, keep those coming! Always like a little intrigue... :)

  2. I've had my license for around 2.5 years now, but I definitely don't drive as much as I would like! I do enjoy driving though, but public transport is just so convenient, and parking Sydney around work is a pain in the ass.

So many wonderful books this week Heather! Can't wait to hear what you think of them! I received the new Terry Pratchett book too...but I'm confused. Do I have to read the whole series to understand it?

    1. Unfortunately, the public transport to my work is crap!!

I have read Discworld out of order, I read the first six books then I jumped ahead and I find them fine, they are a bit crazy!

  3. Wow, a huge NetGalley haul. I requested my first batch of books this week for a month or so which means I suddenly have 8 books to get through. I'm anal about keeping my received / review % high so stress about getting them read when I get them!

    1. I just have no willpower when it comes to NetGalley, I just can't stay away. I'm only at 34% so I really want to get it higher!

  4. I love that cute Jenny Lawson cover! And I like the sound of the JE Plemons books which I hadn't heard of before so that has been added to my wishlist! Hope you enjoy your new reads!

  5. Haha, I've no fondness of driving, but it does get me to work a whole bunch faster than the bus. Also, busdrivers... they drive so scarily most of the time. Unfortunately, I don't have a car, so... public transport it is.
I can definitely understand your frustration with all of the above though. Except the cyclist; we're pretty used to that here (The Netherlands).

    1. You will be, it always looks like the are more bikes than cars on the roads where you live!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Oh man, drivers are THE. WORST. I'd add to your list - tailgaters (my LEAST FAVOURITE OF ALL), people who don't check their mirrors before speeding out of a parking space and almost taking out your tiny car, and unnecessary honking. Driving makes me a cranky person haha!

I hadn't heard of Nimona before (Although the artwork looks very familiar so maybe I've seen her webcomic around somewhere?) but it's definitely on my radar now - thanks for that!

    1. I'd forgotten about tailgaters, I hate them. Driving has made me realise I don't have much patience!!

Nimona is wonderful, it is my first proper graphic novel and I'll be reviewing it in the next couple of days!

  8. We had a few warm days this week, but overall the temperatures are getting down. I am actually happy with the colder weather, although I do get cold easily, I like the chance to wear my sweathers and snuggle up on the couch with a good book.

In netherlands we have special roads for the bikes, so it's less annoying for the drivers and safer for the bikers. It's one of the things I am always surprised at when I visit other countries and see them cycling on the normal road.

Furiously Happy sounds interesting! I am looking forward to your review! Nice netgally haul you got this week! I hope you'll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    1. I love wearing my sweaters too, I have more of them than summer clothes!

It always seems so dangerous seeing them cycling on the main road when big trucks pass by.

Furiously Happy was fantastic, a must read!

  13. Thank you so much! I never knew the new Pratchett book was available on NetGalley! Dumb me just assumed that, because it's a fantastically popular book, it wouldn't be on there - ha ha ha!!
And about the drivers... it sounds ultimately frustrating!! This is exactly why I don't drive :) I'd go nuts! Mega road rage, lol.
I'm checking out the Blog Ahead 2015 but it seems quite intimidating! Eep!! It's a fantastic idea though.
    Have a great week,

    1. Hey Amy! Anna from Blog Ahead (totally butting in, Heather, sorry! lol) it's a huge challenge but it's totally okay if you opt to do a half challenge as well. We've had numerous blogs over the years do that and that's totally okay. The big thing is just to increase your scheduled posts by however many you can (even if just one or two) and help get the momentum going to make it a permanent thing for ya :)

  15. Wow. That's quite a haul of awesome books. Must check a few of those out. We did get a bit of a cool down this weekend and I actually wore socks for a while this morning. It doesn't last long once the sun gets above the trees. That's okay with me, as me and cold don't like each other. LOL

  16. Oh my word. Cyclists drive me batty! Our town put in "bike lanes" but really what they did was instead of widening the rode they just took a chunk out of the driving lane so now there's not enough room for cars. Um...what the heck? And so now that our town is "bike friendly" there are all kinds of races and it's just. Gah! lol

Woohoo for joining in on blog ahead! Hope it's a great challenge for ya :)

  17. I want the Jenny Lawson book so bad I can barely stand it! I really enjoyed her last book and can't wait to read this latest one. Other drivers make me insane especially those that seem completely unaware that there are other people on the road. Though I'm sure I do more than my share of driving people crazy. Enjoy your new books! Impressive haul. Have a great week!

As for the books, yay! Cress! I loved that book <3 Everyone seems to be loving Queen of Shadows as well so I hope you do too. I should really start that series. Oh, and I really want to try Everything Everything, so I hope you enjoy that one too ^^
