The Sunday Post #23 - 25th October 2015

sunday post, book blog, blogger, weekly review

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I'm gonna recap my week and give you an idea of what I have coming up plus anything else newsworthy!

How y'all doing, yes I know I am not American but I love using y'all!

In real life not much on Scotland is in full on Autumn mode and the clocks go back this weekend so it gets even darker earlier.  Full on hibernation mode is coming on!

This week we watched Jurassic World which we all loved and I so want a shot in those giant hamster balls things, maybe Universal Studios should make them in to a ride!

Been shopping for Halloween too this week, kids have got their costumes sorted out for a party we are going to on Saturday, I'm not going in a full on costume but I did buy these bad boys to wear. I think they are fun!

Have you all seen the new Star Wars trailer, I am really excited, it just looks amazing and I cannot wait to see it in December!

I had great plans this week to read several books but some of you may be aware a book called Illuminae made its very quiet arrival this week, yes I am being sarcastic!  It has been everywhere and my copy arrived in all its glory at my work on Thursday, I am in love with it and I think it deserved the hype.  It has certainly pushed back a couple of planned reviews!

Hoping you all have happy and healthy weeks!

  1. The Star Wars trailer looks awesome! I'm still a little enrvous but I think it's going to be good. It certainly LOOKS fabulous. It looks like Luke is not going to be in it much though- but otherwise yeah, sign me up. :)

I missed a Bizarre Books post this week! Yikes better go check it out. Those are always a blast. And Illuminae- looking forward to your review. I have that one on deck too... it's supposed to be great.

  3. Straight to Hell was quite funny in places-I got sent a review copy by the author a while back and didn't want to read it because it's not my sort of thing. But I actually liked it. I LOVE Jurassic World! I would have loved to visit the real life version of the park and buy all the merchandise...before the animals started eating people of course!

  8. Oh I have always wanted to visit Scotland! It's slowly getting chilly in Georgia too and I really can't wait for the time to change because I could use some more sleep, lmao. Enjoy your new books and I hope you enjoyed Illuminae because I am EXCITED for it! hehe

  9. We switched to winter time, too, Heather, and I don't want it to be dark before 6pm :( I'm thinking in Scotland it's pretty much the same as in Norway (where I'm originally from) and it'll be dark around 4:30 pm for you now? Wouldn't it be awesome if we could just stay at home during winter? No work, class or anything... just internet, books and good food and drinks ;)
Your new books look fantastic! I hope you'll enjoy them all.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  12. I have my fingers crossed for the Star Wars movie; I hope it's good! And I can't wait for the Sherlock special. They can't make those fast enough to suit me. Your ghost leggings are adorbs!

I'm trying to imagine what it's like to live at Scotland's latitudes in the winter, and failing miserably. I've been there in the summer, so I know about getting only three or four hours of darkness and still being light at 11:00 at night. But dark a lot of the day? That is so hard for this Maryland/Virginia girl to imagine. We aren't going off Daylight Savings (or onto winter time) until next weekend - Nov. 1. I'm not looking forward to it getting dark earlier in the afternoon, but I will appreciate the one extra hour of sleep next weekend!

    1. It starts to get dark at four thirty in the afternoon and it comes in so quickly! The one hour of sleep was good but still not enough!! Scotland is either freezing cold with tons of snow or just grey over winter, I secretly love it!

  13. Star wars trailer gave me the chills! It looks so good.
    Ghost pants are super cute!
We have daylight saving next sunday and I am already longing for hibernation mood. I love when it gets dark early and the nights are chilly!

Can't wait for the new Star Wars. My son has informed me I'm going to go with him to see it. Lots of intriguing new books. And I grabbed one of those freebies:)

  17. It's also full autumn mode here, all the colours are so pretty! Clocks went back here this weekends to, I enjoyed an extra hour of sleep, but it feels weird having it be dark earlier. I haven't seen Jurrassic world or any of the other jurassic movies yet, but I heard good things about them. So I might have to watch them eventually. Yay for getting your kids halloween customes, what customes do they have? Those ghost pants are so cute!
I a really looking forward to the new star wars movie! I hope it's as good as it sounds. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  18. I am so excited about the new Star Wars. Han Solo is in it, so I am definitely going to see it. (He is my male alter ego/hero)
I love those pants. Those look so fun. I love dressing up for Halloween, it is one of the biggest parties in the lifestyle, (right behind New Years, of course). This year Halloween is on a Saturday, great for the kids, bad for me since all the big parties will be on that night. Since I have little ones, I can't attend. We did go to big party last night though. I went as Little Red Riding Hood.
I hope you love all your new books. Have a great week!

  26. I haven't read Illuminae yet though I do have a copy for review so hopefully I'll get to it soon. I am beyond excited to see the new Star Wars movie and I was thrilled with the trailer. Sadly I may not get to see it till January due to holiday travel plans but I guess that means the theater may not be as crowded!

Have fun at your Halloween party! I haven't bought a costume in years but I might get some fun accessories to wear. We have a children's trick or treat parade at my library on Wednesday and I'm a costume judge so it might be fun to dress up a little since I'll probably be allowed to :)

  27. I am so so excited for the Sherlock special. I'm also really excited it's airing the same day in the U.S. and the U.K.; less chance of me being spoiled as I'm in the U.S. haha Our time changes this Saturday too - but at least it's adding an extra hour and not taking one away. Plus, it's happening on Halloween so that's nice!

A new Star Wars film ey?... I like Star Wars... I hope they don't spoil it, I'm gonna have to go and watch it you know. Thank you for letting me know :D

About the clocks changing, I was really lucky actually, I live in the UK (as you know) and work nights. I usually have to work an extra hour, but I got landed an afternoon shift this year so I felt SO jammy lol. Whoop!! I got an extra hours sleep just like everyone else ;)

I hope you enjoy Halloween! You like like you'll kick ass in those bad boys ;)

    Have a great week!

I love getting an extra hours sleep but I never thought about the poor folk on the night shift which is also terrible as my mum worked night shift for twenty odd years!!!

My legging are awesome and as I am unlikely to wear them on a normal day are now very comfortable pj bottoms!!
