The Sunday Post #45 - 17th April 2016

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Kimba at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I am going to recap my week, ramble about books and give you an idea of what I have coming up plus anything else newsworthy!

Hello!

I am distracted this week, my head is all over the shop, this is mainly caused by the following things.

  • My upcoming Disneyworld holiday, being less than 180 days out this means the joy of securing ADR's (Advance Dining Reservations) so me and the other half have been scouring menus and trying to fathom out if we can justify eating a 32oz Porterhouse for Two.  The answer was yes and we have booked that meal and also secure the hellishly overpriced but fun Cinderella's Royal Table which is in the castle, I am already planning my outfit for that!
  • Night Vale as in the podcast and the book, how I had no idea of this existence of this crazy ass town, I started listening to the podcast and hey presto hours lost.
  • The arrival in my house, well my Kindle of City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin, I may have squealed and then freaked as I have so much to read, then Six of Crows came up as an auto download for me which I got to as I have heard loads of good things about Leigh Bardugo, only bad thing is it was a Kindle download so I am having to use Bluefire on my iPhone to read it, what a disaster (I wish there was a font for sarcasm).
  • Still feeling meh, fed up of this cold and it is cold outside too, it was freaking snowing the other day which is bang out of order.

Have a good week everybody!

Gah, I loved this book.  I kept imagining Tom Hiddleston as Sarkan with his long dark Loki hair.

Listening to more Night Vale!

My picks from this week in years gone by!!

I have received physical and e-copies of some fab books this week, thank you to all the publishers for sending them! Also, some of them are my own purchases, the pics link to Goodreads for you to find out more!

Let me know if you have read any of them!

Happy Sunday!

  5. Lots of great looking incoming books! Especially Six of Crows! Enjoy.

Now what is Night Vale, it's not like I need more addictions in my life but......

Hope you cold goes soon. And yes it's freezing here too, I need warmer temps ASAP. We keep getting hailstones which is both cold and painful if you're stuck out in them! Yay for a fab holiday to look forward to!

  6. I grabbed the Moondwellers omnibus too. I have them individually but it'll be easier to only have to open one file. I had to laugh at work comes third. So true. LOL

  7. Aww Heather! Get well soon!! I totally agree about the snow too, it's definitely too late in the year!!
I'd be tempted to do the whole Cinderella thing if you're booking that table ;) just for giggles you know? Either way make sure you make the most out of it and treat yourself! You deserve it after putting up with this cold for so long.
    Have a great week!

  8. Ooh your upcoming Disney trip sounds fun! Sorry about the cold though, feel better :-/

I also ended up downloading that Moon Dwellers series while it was free! It'll probably end up lost in the abyss with the other million free books I have lol, but oh well. At least I'll have it if I want it!

  9. Oh no! I hope you get the kindle thing sorted out. I couldn't imagine having to read a review copy on my phone, I feel so bad for you. I think you are going to like Six of Crows, although I have to admit the Grisha Trilogy was better (but I gave SoC 5/5 stars as well, so there's that). I can actually HEAR your sarcasm Heather, it is coming through loud and clear. (and it is one of my favorite things about you)

  10. I've heard that dog quote (that you have at the end) before and it's too funny! I'm sorry for the stress of planning the trip, but it sounds like it will be a blast. And yay for a meal in the castle!!!

I have Welcome to Nightvale downloaded but I need to listen to it. A friend of mine is obsessed. They are touring the U.S. right now and her and her husband saw it and really enjoyed it. It sounds like something I'll really enjoy.

  11. Oh, I wish I had known that Six of Crows was download on Netgalley! I haven't read it yet, but I'd love to squeeze it in before BEA, as Bardugo will be there... and I would feel stupid trying to chat with her if I haven't read her book.
Sounds like planning your trip to Disney is almost as much fun as the trip itself :D
Have a great week and happy reading.

  13. I have not been to Disney World yet. I hope my son decides to take his kids (when he has some) and I will tag along. Heh heh. Maybe I can convince my Friday Night Martinis ladies that we should go. I am sorry you have a cold and even more sorry it snowed! I think it has been a week and a half since we have had snow and I am keeping my fingers crossed that that was the end of it. That cover of Uprooted is so much nicer than the original. I have to read it because so many people are raving about it. I started following Night Vale on Twitter because I saw a couple of interesting tweets from them, but I never started listening yo the podcast. I had no idea it was a book until months later. Do you have to read the book to understand the podcasts? Yay for Six Of Crows! I hope to get it read this summer. Those Dweller books look interesting. Feel better and have a wonderful snowless new week. :)

    1. No, the podcasts are the main things, the book is just an extension of the Night Vale universe.

WDW is the best, I am such a massive kid and yes it costs a fortune but I love coming to Florida and all the fun that comes with it.

UK Uprooted is miles better, I wish covers stayed the same the world over.

  14. I should send some of our weather your way, we had some beautiful spring weather here last week, although it's windy and cloudy today.

That's exciting your trip to Disney is so close by! I always love planning things like that ahead and get all excited about it.

I really enjoyed the Dwellers series! It's a good series. I read it a long time ago, so I also grabbed the kindle version now, so i have it there too. I hope you'll have a great week!

  17. Snow should be forbidden in April. We've been having some more sun, but around the weekend we're back to rain which sucks.
Sounds like you had a busy week.
I hope you enjoy Six of Crows. I loved it!
